Again, this longevity is great if you compare it with the 1.4 TSI by Volkswagen which is the closest competitor among modern engines. We would say that the TSI engines can last up to 150,000 miles and they will bother you with some problems all the way you own the VW car. But the 1.4 Turbo GM engine will not bother you much.

Once in the zone, the car just flies and it is hard to believe that this is just a 1.4L engine. I was reading various reviews and it seems the 0-100 timings for the 1.4 TSI manual is almost similar to 1.8 TSI DSG(8.4 vs 8.2 secs). I would have liked to go for the 1.8 TSI if manual transmission was available.
MonsterM. From my understanding, the main goal of the 1.5T were regulations and the differences in terms of power and efficiency are very small. I would go with the newer motor unless you can find a good deal on the 1.4T. Everyone I know that had or has the 1.4T, never had any issues and loved the highway fuel economy.
